Cretaceous sponges from the Campanian of Misburg and Höver

Scope and contents

This website is dedicated to the presentation of fossil sponges found in the Campanian (Upper Cretaceous) marl beds near Hannover, Northern Germany. Its purpose is to provide an inventory and documentation of the many different species found in this region, and to assist in the identification of fossil sponges.

All specimens shown on this web site are part of the author's private collection.

The website has been made public in October 2004 for the first time and has been revised in May 2005 according to a recently published taxonomic system (Finks et al., 2004); it will be updated and supplemented at irregular intervals.
