Peronella sp.?

Zittel 1878

Peronella sp. has not been previously described from North Germany, and only one specimen (picture) tentatively identified as Peronella sp. is presently known to the author.

The sponge is composed of about 10 short cylindrical individuals with conical terminations. The cylindrical parts are covered with a dense smooth cortex. The conical terminations are rough, due to anastomosing furrows. In the cone apices, there are 3 to 5 tiny exhalent pores which in some individuals merge to form a small, star-shaped opening.
